Itinerary for the 3 Days Murchison Falls Wildlife Safari

Day 1: Travel to Murchison Falls National Park - Top of the Falls Hike

Prepare for pick up from your hotel or place of residence or preferred pickup point at exactly 7:00am and drive to the great Murchison Falls National Park. Expect a brief stopover in Luwero to pick some fruits like oranges, mangoes, pineapples and jack fruit. Thereafter proceed to Masindi town for your lunch.

Drive out of Masindi town to a dirt road for about 25 minutes and get to our destination point the Murchison Falls National Park via the Kichubanyobo gate. Get clearance at the gate and continue for about 1 and 1/2 hours and get to the top of the Murchison Falls. You get to watch the mighty Nile squeeze through a tiny cleft of about 7 meters wide and explode into the world's strongest waterfalls. It is such a glorious sight with incredible picture moments.

Day 2: Game Drive, Launch Cruise on the Nile with an Optional Hike to the Falls

Be up very early for your breakfast at around 6:00 am and set out for the morning game drive by 6:30 am. The timing aims at catching the elusive nocturnal and hunters such as the lions, jackals, leopards, hyenas, and grazing hippos. Explore the major game trails on the northern side of the Nile for big game sightings including giraffes, buffaloes, elephants, waterbucks, bushbucks, kobs, antelopes like Jackson's hartebeest and oribis among others.

After more than 4 hours of great wildlife viewing, return to your lodge for lunch. Thereafter set out for the 2:00 pm launch cruise along the Nile River. This is one of the biggest highlights of this Uganda safari. Expect great sightings of a number of animals and birds that throng the river banks including hippos, buffaloes, crocodile, monitor lizards, warthogs, elephants and birds such as skimmers, cormorants, cattle egrets, red-throated bee eaters, kingfishers, African fish eagles and luckily the elusive shoebill stork.

The cruise takes you to the base of the spectacular Murchison Falls. You could leave the Launch and take a 45 minutes hike from the base around to the top of the falls. This hike offers the best experience of the Murchison Falls - the breathtaking views of the rainbow cutting through the falls, thunderous sound of the falls, and cool drops of water brushing on your skin, fills magical. We advise you to consider this hike for the best experience of these glamorous falls.

Day 3: Early Morning Game Drive and transfer back to Kampala

Be up for your early morning breakfast and set out for yet another exciting game drive. Expect your game count to increase. Later check out of Murchison Falls National Park and travel back to Kampala or Entebbe International Airport for your next flight. Lunch en-route in Masindi town or at Kabalega dinners.
