Nyungwe Forest National Park has the only canopy walk in East Africa and among the only three on the continent. The canopy walk is one of the most thrilling Rwanda adventures one ought to do for a Rwanda safari. The walkway is suspended between big trees offering magnificent views of the upper canopy. It is an excellent watching area for a number of wildlife including birds, butterflies and several monkey species including the blue monkeys.
The dizzying platform stretches over a steep and deep valley and across massive forest cover. The starting point is at the Uwinka park offices and the canopy walk takes about two hours. The canopy walk has three sections, with the first 45m, second 90m and third one is 25m.
