Itinerary For Your 1 Day Jinja Tour With Jinja Sightseeing Adventure.

After your early morning breakfast, depart for Jinja at 7:00 am. The drive from Kampala to Jinja offers interesting sites and adventures that cannot simply be driven past. The first branch off is to the spectacular Sezibwa Falls, 32 kilometres along the Kampala – Jinja highway and approximately about 5 minutes of drive from the highway. Enjoy the beauty of the falls, and green surroundings and the cool and serene atmosphere.

You will take an adventurous hike through the rocks to the top of the falls for some spectacular views and great picture moments. Sezibwa is host to a number of birds including Woodland Kingfisher, Cormorant, White-throated Bee-eaters, Striped Kingfishers, Great Blue Turaco and more. Monkeys can be sighted in the neighboring forest and sometimes in the huge eucalyptus trees at the picnic area. Green Mambas, Skinks, Cobras, Monitor Lizards, Mongoose, Otters and colorful Butterflies are other possible wildlife encounters at the Sezibwa.

Not to be missed are the numerous traditional Shrines around the falls and the myth told by traditionalists of these shrines about the formation of Sezibwa Falls, which makes Sezibwa not just a scenic waterfall site but also a very important cultural site that protects an ancient African traditional culture of Spirit worship.

Allow up to 1 hour at Sezibwa and proceed to on the Kampala – Jinja for about 30 minutes and to Mabira Forest Reserve. Covering about 300 square kilometers and the only rainforest in the central region of Uganda, Mabira is host to a number of monkeys, forest birds, butterflies, big trees, and flowers. Take a one hour nature walk in this ancient African forest for a unique African jungle experience.

The incredible Mabira experience lasts for about 2 (two) hours after which you rejoin the Kampala – Jinja highway. You drive past vast sugarcane and tea plantations of Lugazi sprawling over hills creating such a nice green sight. If time allows, you could make a stopover for some picture moments.

Get to Jinja town and take a tour of this once vibrant industrial Capital of Uganda. Jinja was predominantly occupied by Asians that were in charge of most of the industries and businesses. They were expelled by the then president of Uganda, Idi Amin in 1979. Industries and businesses collapsed and the town never recovered its glory. The old colonial, Asian and African architecture are still visible.

Some of Mahatma Gandhi’s ashes were poured into Lake Victoria in Jinja and a small memorial garden is at the spot. You could make some curio shop purchases for some African craft and other items during this Jinja tour. From the Jinja town tour proceed for you lunch.

Proceed to the Source of the Nile, the biggest highlight of this tour. Enjoy the spectacular view of the River Nile and Lake Victoria, savor the awesome scenery of birds darting off the water, local fishermen spreading their nets, and the green vegetation on small islands and the mainland, and enjoy the cool breeze, sweet scent from plants and the sound of the gurgling waters and singing birds. Take a boat ride on River Nile to the actual point where the River Nile starts its three months journey to the Mediterranean Sea.

After the magical experience at the Source of the Nile, drive for 1hr for the magnificent Kalagala falls famous with white water rafting in Uganda. Thereafter, embark on your return journey by 6:00 pm and expect to arrive in Kampala by 7:30 pm
