Detailed Itinerary For Your 3 Days Gorilla Trekking Rwanda Safari
Day 1 – Kigali City Tour, Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Prepare for pick-up at exactly 7:00 am. Your driver shall pick you up from your hotel or preferred pick-up point. Do a tour of the vibrant and green Kigali City with a visit to the Kigali Memorial Center, a burial site of over 250,000 genocide victims. After concluding the city tour you drive Northwards with great views of the lush rolling hills and get to Volcanoes National Park. Check in at Kinigi Guest House for dinner and overnight.
Day 2 – The Ultimate Gorilla Trekking Expedition
Be up by 6:00 am, get ready in your trekking attire and have breakfast. Get your packed lunch and transfer to the park offices where you join up with the rest of the travelers for briefing from your guide. After the briefing you are transferred to the starting point to track your assigned gorilla family. The trek goes through steep and slippery jungle grounds of the forest. The Gorillas are constantly on the move hence the time take to locate them varies from a few minutes to several hours.
The possibility of not seeing or spotting the gorillas is very minimal. By the time of start of the trek, the guide has an idea of where to find them by using his knowledge of gorilla movements and their know location the previous day. When you finally locate the gorillas, you are allowed not more than one hour to observe and photograph. After the expedition you return to the lodge for relaxation.
If time allows you shall do a community tour and visit Ruhengeri market to meet up with the locals and purchase some Rwandese crafts.
Days 3 – Transfer back to Kigali
After your early morning breakfast check out, and drive to Kigali. You shall make stopovers to visit craft shops and local markets to purchase some souvenirs and interact with the locals.
