Itinerary For The 2 Days Jinja And White Water Rafting Tour

Day 1: Travel to Jinja – Sezibwa Falls, Mabira Forest, Jinja Town, Source of the Nile

Prepare for pick-up from your hotel or residence at exactly 7:00 am to beat the crazy Kampala traffic jam. Get to Sezibwa Falls for your first adventures and enjoy the spectacular view of the falls, green vegetation and abundance of birds & other wildlife at the site and the surrounding forest. You will also do a nature walk in the surrounding forest and climb the rocks adjacent to the falls.

After about an hour at Sezibwa Falls proceed and get to Mabira rain-forest. Mabira is a true African tropical jungle and is home to a diversity of plant and animal species. You’ll do a one hour trek in the forest for a true African jungle experience and expect to sight monkeys, birds, plants, big old trees, butterflies and beautiful flowers

Check out of Mabira and proceed along the Kampala – Jinja highway with great views of vast sugar and tea plantations of Lugazi, and a verdant countryside interrupted with local homesteads, farms, factories and trading centres.

Get to Jinja town and do a brief tour of this once industrial capital of Uganda. Jinja had most of Uganda’s industries and businesses that were majorly run by Asians. The Asians were expelled by the then president Idi Amin Dada in 1979 which led to the inevitable collapse of all the business enterprises in Jinja. Though some Asians returned after ousting of Idi Amin, Jinja never recovered her glory as the industrial capital of Uganda. Old Asian and colonial houses, are still in sight along the wide streets of Jinja town. During this tour you could purchase some local items especially crafts. Proceed for your lunch.

Proceed to the Source of the Nile, one of the highlights of this tour. Enjoy the aroma and panoramic views around the site. Take a boat ride along the Nile to the actual point marked as the start of the longest river in the world.

Later transfer to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: White Water Rafting – Transfer to Kampala

Have early breakfast and transfer to Itanda Falls for a full day of white water rafting. You will have lunch at Itanda.

Alternatively you could choose to do rafting half day and another adventure(s) for the rest of the day, or another activity / activities instead of rafting. Activities to choose from include kayaking, jet-boating, bungee jumping, tubing, horseback riding, quad biking, and river surfing.
