Gorilla Trekking Experience And Golden Monkey Tracking In Volcanoes National Park
Visit Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park and spend time with the gorillas. Other than the gorillas Volcanoes has number of other primates including the endangered golden monkeys. Other highlights of the safari include a tour of the vibrant Kigali City and a visit to the genocide memorial sites.

Itinerary
Day 1 – Kigali City Tour, Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Pick-up at 7.00am for the Kigali City tour and a visit to the Genocide Memorial Site. Later drive out of the city, northwards to Volcanoes National Park. Check in at Kinigi Guest House for dinner and overnight.
Day 2 – The Ultimate Gorilla Trekking Experience
Be up by 6.00am, get ready in your trekking attire and have breakfast. Get your packed lunch and transfer to the park offices where you join up with the rest of the travelers for briefing from your guide. After the briefing you are transferred to the starting point to track your assigned gorilla family. The trek goes through steep and slippery jungle grounds of the forest. The Gorillas are constantly on the move hence the time taken to locate them varies from a few minutes to several hours. The possibility of not seeing the gorillas is very minimal. By the time of start of the trek, the guide has an idea of where to find them by using his knowledge of gorilla movements and their know location the previous day. When you finally locate the gorillas, you are allowed not more than one hour to observe and photograph. After the expedition you return to the lodge for relaxation.
If time allows you shall do a community tour and visit Ruhengeri market to meet up with the locals and purchase some Rwandese crafts.
Days 3 – Golden Monkey Tracking, Transfer back to Kigali
Be up for breakfast by 6.00am, pick your packed lunch and transfer to the park offices for briefing. Trek the bamboo jungles for the golden monkeys. The monkeys do not remain high up in the trees and quite often they are just above eye level. You are allowed not more than one hour of observing the golden monkeys. After the trek check out and transfer back to Kigali.
