This 3 Days Semuliki wildlife safari transfers you to Semuliki National Park Uganda’s only geopark, a representative of the vast Ituri forests of the Democratic Republic of Congo extending to East Africa some of the wildlife species of West African countries. Semuliki is one of the richest areas of floral and fauna diversity in Africa, an ancient forest whose species have accumulated over a very period of time.

 

It is a true birder’s haven, boasting of a whooping 441 species of birds that have been recorded in Semuliki, accounting for almost 40% of Uganda’s total bird species, and 66% forest bird species. Rare and endemic birds include Red-billed Dwarf Hornbill, Black Dward Hornbill, White-crested Hornbill, and Black-casqued wattled Hornbill, are only found in this forest.

Semuliki is home to 8 primate species and in total 60 mammal species, which include the Pygmy Hippos, Mona Monkeys, ElephantsForest Buffaloes, Leopards, Crocodiles, Pygmy Antelope, Flying squirrels, Chimpanzees, grey-cheeked Mangabey, Baboon, Black-and-white Colobus, Central African Red Colobus, Vervet Monkeys, Pottos, Bushbabies.

Itinerary For The 3 Days Semuliki Wildlife Safari

Day 1: Travel to Toro-Semuliki Wildlife Reserve

Have early breakfast and prepare for pick-up at exactly 7:00 am. Get to Fort Portal and continue for 32km, with panoramic views of the Albertine escarpment of the western rift valley to the right and Mountain Rwenzori to the left, and get to Toro-Semuliki Wildlife Reserve. Check in at your safari lodge, have lunch and relax.

Later set out for a game drive in Toro-Semuliki Wildlife Reserve. Expect sightings of a number of wildlife including kob, Savannah elephant, elephant, reedbuck, warthogs, vervet, bushbuck, waterbuck, duiker, bushpig, giant forest hog and a number of birds. Return to the lodge to relax and have dinner.

Later set out for a night game drive to search for the nocturnal such as the leopards, mongoose and hyenas.

Return to the lodge for overnight.

Day 2: Nature Walk in Semuliki National Park, Boat ride on Lake Albert

Have early breakfast and transfer to Sempaya, Semuliki National Park. Get briefing from the ranger and thereafter set out for a forest experience in the vast Ituri Forest. Expect sightings of lots of forest creatures including several monkeys, small animals, birds, trees, flowers and lots more. You also get to visit the famous Sempaya Hot Springs.

Return to the lodge in Toro-Semuliki Wildlife Reserve for lunch and relax.

Later set out for a relaxing Boat ride along Lake Albert. You stand a chance of sighting the rare shoebill stork, as well as crocodiles, hippos, waterfowl and several birds.

Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Nature Walk in Toro-Semuliki Wildlfie Reserve, Transfer to Kampala

Wake up to an early nature walk in Toro-Semuliki Wildlife Reserve to observe this beautiful nature at close encounter. Return to the lodge for breakfast.

Check out and travel back to Kampala.
